  3. Expedited International Shipping Day Guarantee - often one of the most expensive options, some carriers provide alternatives to standard shipping with a delivery by a certain amount of days. This always places the sender on a deadline to put the package in the hands of the carrier by certain times in order for them to uphold their end of the deal. Mode of Transport - specifications to the type of transport used (ground, air or sea) provide a given range of delivery dates, and can be very important when delivering to or from remote areas. Priority, First, Next Flight - terms like these give the package a specific minimum that must be met at points in their path to delivery, such as a guaranteed space on the first available flight or continued movement through the weekend, whereas cheaper options might leave the package until normal business days to continue. • • •

  4. Expedited International Shipping Ground - this method of shipping includes trains, trucks. This is often an inevitable step in the delivery process in cases where bulk shipments are made by water. Ship - Actual ships carry the vast majority of international trade goods. This also includes use of barges to traverse canals that trail inland. Air - Designated cargo planes carry much of the air postal traffic, but space is sometimes utilized in passenger plane storage areas. Intermodal - This method is most often employed when large shipping containers are transferred as is from ship to a train or truck. • • • •

  5. Reasons To Ship Your LTL Shipment Via FTL Freight • Extremely Fragile Shipments o FTL freight shipments Do not use the hub system. Due to this, items within your shipment are not touched or transferred between vehicles - substantially reducing the risk of damage. If your load contains elements that are at high risk of breakage, shipping FTL freight is the better option even if your shipment does not take up the full truck. • Time Sensitive Shipments o As the name suggests, shipping via FTL freight means that your items are the only items aboard the truck. There are no intermediary stops when using FTL freight, so your shipping time is significantly reduced versus shipping via LTL. • Very Heavy Shipments o It is important to note that the decision to ship FTL versus LTL is not only a function of size. Container trucks must abide by strict weight restrictions. Although your shipment may not take up the full trailer, if your load meets the weight maximum for the entire truck, it must be shipped via FTL. • Boundary Shipments o If your shipment is right on the cusp between having to ship LTL versus FTL freight, it is advisable that you receive pricing for both LTL and FTL freight costs. If your shipment takes up over 70% of the truck, it is best to get pricing on both LTL and FTL freight. A lot of times shipping via FTL freight is cheaper especially when the timing is factored into the cost. In addition, every freight provider will have their own requirements. Although a truck may have the capacity to hold 30 pallets, your provider may require you to ship via FTL if your shipment will use over 50% of the trailer’s capacity. This requirement varies by provider.

  6. A Comparison between FTL Freight Transportation And LTL Freight Transportation FTL freight transportation is one of the methods that is preferred by a number of shippers in moving their respective cargo from one point to another. This is due to its flexible nature and the associated affordability. When comparing FTL freight transportation to LTL freight transportation, we find that the two are quite different despite them performing truckload shipping. FTL freight transportation is considered to be more costly when compared to LTL freight transportation. However, the benefits associated with it are more as compared to the LTL. A good example is that there is no need of sharing the space of the truck with other company since the truck is in a position of moving to the required destination without the need of having other stops. However, for the LTL, there is several unloading and reloading of the shipments before reaching the intended destination. This is not a secure method as the cargo is likely to get damaged more so if it chances that it is fragile. • •

  7. A Comparison between FTL Freight Transportation And LTL Freight Transportation FTL freight transportation is the best for large shipments as compared to LTL freight transportation. It is the correct choice to go for when your shipments need to fill the whole trailer space. It is in a position of holding shipments that exceed 15,000 pounds or those that exceed ten pallets whereas the LTL cannot exceed that. FTL freight transportation is observed to be fast when compared with the LTL freight transportation. This is because no unloading and reloading of the shipments take place on the way as compared to the LTL transportation which makes a number of stops on the way. This explains the reason why the transport time for the LTL is observed to be longer. As a result, FTL freight transportation is said reliable and economical. However, LTL can also be observed to be cheap as it charges low costs. • •

  8. Advantages and Disadvantages Of FTL Freight Transportation FTL freight transportation is imagined to be costing more as compared to the truckload. However, FTL is accompanied by a number of benefits that are highlighted below FTL freight transportation is efficient when it comes to the transportation of the large product shipments. FTL freight transportation is optimal when it comes to the shipments that are fragile or it comes to the shipments with high risk. FTL freight transportation ensures that the products have been kept in the same truck over the period of transportation. FTL freight transportation is considered to be substantially faster as compared to the LTL. • • • • •

  9. Advantages and Disadvantages Of FTL Freight Transportation The FTL freight transportation industry favors the drivers involved over the businesses since the number of the shipments available are more as compared to the drivers. The FTL freight transportation is considered to be less effective in comparison to the LTL freight transportation. The products transported by FTL freight are vulnerable to only one point transit failure. FTL freight transportation is considered to be ideal when it comes to a number of industries that varies from one another starting from the shipment of a large number of items to a given area, the movement of the large quantities of the industrial goods, foods types that are bulk and not forgetting mass materials. • • • •

  10. Forms Of Warehouse Storage • Pallet Racking o Warehouse storage is made up of a storage system known as pallet racking. In this type of storage system, we find that a pallet is a form of a component that is very useful and common in the logistical type of stock storage and also in the logistical movement. The pallet is made up out of plastics, metals or from wood. • Multi-Tier Racking o Warehouse storage is made up of another form known as multi-tier racking. This is a warehouse storage system that is vital when a customer has a stock that needs to be stored in a vertical manner. This storage system is accompanied by a number of tiers that are varying from one another such as floors as one way of accessing the stock in a manual way up to the given limit. • Mezzanine Flooring o Warehouse storage that involves the construction of the second floor on the existing aisles is referred to as mezzanine flooring. This type of storage is essential as it offers more shelving space, areas of working by the staff where picking, checking and moving of stock can take place.

  11. Forms Of Warehouse Storage • Mobile Shelving o Warehouse storage that is mainly used for the storage of data and in the archiving of data is identified as mobile shelving. This type of storage system is normally accompanied by the shelves for storage that comes system for tracking. • Shelving o Warehouse storage whereby a stock is placed on the top of shelves that are static is identified as shelving. This type of storage system is normally accessed through the forklift. It is a storage system that makes the process of accessing the stock to be easy. As a result, this type of storage is considered to be the best for items that are small and light.

  12. Methods Involved In Pallet Storage • Push Back Rack o Warehouse storage method whereby a given stock is taken to the storage area by use of a carrier that is rail-guided is known as pushback rack. In this method, there is pushing back to the area of storage of the other stocks when the given stock is placed in the store. Here, it means that upon the removal of a given stock from the store, another stock occupies that space. • Pallet Flow Rack o Warehouse storage method that is mainly conducted by the warehouses that are accompanied by high throughput is known as pallet flow rack. It is a type of method that allows the pallets contained on a conveyor to be offloaded in a FIFO style. This allows another pallet to occupy the position that is left empty. • Drive-In Rack o Warehouse storage method that gives rise to around 10 spaces of pallet load that are alike to the double-deep type of racking is known as the drive-in rack. The lanes for the drive-in makes it possible for the removing and placing of the load by the forklift. But this forklift has a space that is limited in maneuvering and as a result, the time for placing and removing the pallets is increased. • The Double-Deep Type Of Pallet Rack o Warehouse storage whereby 2 racks that are single and placed together are incorporated is known as the double-deep type of pallet rack. This form of the method is vital as it minimizes the aisles number required.

  13. Methods Involved In Pallet Storage • The Single-Deep Type Of Pallet Rack o Warehouse storage whereby each pallet available in the store is easily accessed is known as the single-deep type of pallet rack. This method involves the type of issues known as honeycombing that entails frames stacking and stacking of the block. In this method, when one pallet is removed, there is a vacant that is left for the accommodation of another pallet. • Stacking Frames o Warehouse storage in which the pallets are located on several high positions is known as the stacking frames. This method is vital in the cases where there the stored pallets are not recognized to be stackable. • Block stacking o Warehouse storage in which the given pallets are stacked up to a given height is known as the block stacking. This method entails the unit stocks that are stacked on the top of other stocks and then stored in the lanes or the blocks available on the floor of the warehouse.

  14. Main Terms And Conditions Of Warehouse Storage Warehouse storage gives their customers all the power of owning their goods. The customer is recognized as the one that is owning the goods stored in the warehouse as per the law. The customer has all the rights of storing goods in this warehouse, rights of releasing the goods and even the right of commanding the company to deliver or dispose his/her goods from the warehouse. The customer has a right of fining the company in case the goods stored in the warehouse get interfered with. Warehouse storage keeps the goods of the customer as per its discretion in the warehouse that it decides. However, this location must be identified by the warehouse receipt on the front side. But it is not guaranteed that goods can be stored at any warehouse complex of the company as long as it is listed on the warehouse receipt. The company can change the location of the customers’ goods after informing him/her in a period of ten days earlier. Warehouse storage has the full rights of terminating the storage of the customers’ goods. This is done by giving a notice to the owner of the goods in a period of 30 days before removing the goods from the warehouse. The customers are required to make payments for the given period that the goods have been stored in the respective warehouse and then remove them upon the completion of payment. However, if the customer fails to adhere to the terms and conditions, the company has all the full rights to remove the goods from the warehouse but it has no a right of selling them. • • •
