  2. One of the Calamites That Fell Upon David • God commanded that one of David’s best friends take David’s wives and sleep with them during the day, and that David had to watch it all happen.

  3. Second Calamite • God commanded that David’s first and only child be killed.

  4. Third Calamite • The prophet Nathan rebuked David by the Lord’s command.

  5. Fourth Calamite • David was cursed by the Lord through Shimei.

  6. Saul and Jonathan • David described Saul and Jonathan in his lament after their death as loyal, mighty, loved, gracious, swift, and strong. This was surprising because Saul tried to kill David earlier on, but David still called him all of those good things and didn’t include one bad thing at all.

  7. The Promise • The promise of 2 Samuel 7:15 is so important because God punished Saul for other’s sin and “stopped loving Saul”, and Saul lost his kingdom so God’s promising not to do that to Saul again.

  8. House • The two ways the term “house” is used in 2 Samuel is to build a house for God’s name, and to dwell in.

  9. Davidic Covenant • What are the four basic promises of the Davidic covenant? -Raise offspring to succeed you -Never stop loving -To punish wrong-doings -Throne will be established forever
