  2. Who was Francis Marion? Francis Marion was a military officer who served in the American Revolution. He was part of the Continental Army and the South Carolina militia.

  3. Why was he called “The Swamp Fox” Francis Marion was called The Swamp Fox because of his abnormal guerrilla war tactics . He learned from the Indians how to surprise attack the British and quickly disappear into the swamp, and not be found.

Fun Facts about Marion • Was born near Georgetown, South Carolina • Went to sea at age 15 • Served in the French and Indian war with his brother • Became a successful planter • Was elected to the South Carolina Provincial Congress • Irritated and frustrated British Soldiers and Loyalist That Marion guy is very annoying!
