Industry Partnership Program • Observation: • OEMs offloading mfg to EMS • OEM (7-10%R&D) --> EMS (<1%) --> Offshore • R&D shortfall offset by Roadmapping to focus remaining development; Industry & University Consortia stretch development $. But much development will follow mfg. Off-shore • Recommend: • Increase global chapters and increase global participation in BoG • Action item: study constitutional change; make use of chapter meeting; travel expense for overseas; Segelken will coordinate ad hoc CP, Wydrum, suhir, Segelken, Putlittz, Garrou, Dave Palmer, Ralph Russell • more conferences overseas (through chapters or capture existing overseas conferences) • more packaging courses overseas • CMPT follows the work 10/3/1999, Newark
