  2. Indonesia is home to 129 active volcanoes, with the two most active ones — Mount Kelut and Mount Merapi — located on the island of Java, which also contains the Indonesian capital of Jakarta, roughly 500 km (300 mi) northwest of them.

  3. MOUNT BROMO IS ONE OF INDONESIA’S 129 ACTVE VOLCANOES

  4. Mount Bromo is located 120 kilometers (70 miles) south of Surabaya, East Java’s biggest city, and about 275 kilometers (170 miles) east of Mount Merapi, a much more dangerous volcano.

  5. Mount Bromo, a 2,330 m high mountain, is a popular tourist destination located at the confluence of the East Java districts of Probolinggo, Pasuruan, Lumajang and Malang.
