Overview – Why the report is important • Highlights our key engagement activities • demonstrates our commitment to patient and public engagement • Provides assurance for legal requirements: • Section 242 of the Health and Social Care Act and Section 244 of the consolidated NHS Act 2006 • NHS Constitution 2009 • The Equality Act 2010 • Ensures we achieve the requirements of our ‘Patient and Public Engagement and Experience Strategy’ • Ensures we meet our Equality duties • Ensures we meet NHS England requirements

  2. Involving a diverse range of local people Community Voices: continues to grow helping the CCG reach communities who are often seldom heard. The network of x individuals and x organisations across Greater Huddersfield represent the local population. Working with partners: Community Voices is being rolled out to Tenants and Residents Associations (TRA) in partnership with Kirklees Neighbourhood Housing – helping to reach more communities across Kirklees Equality Delivery System: The CCG were awarded developing + by a community panel. The panel told us that ‘Community Voices’ is working. They want us to continue with this work.

A new approach for 2017/18: Involving Community and Voluntary Sector Supporting the Third Sector: Greater Huddersfield CCG offered a grant to VAC to support the third sector in Greater Huddersfield. The support built on the joint work of the Community Partnership Board. VAC provided: • Quality for Health • Organisational support and advice to support the sector • Delivery of ‘Community Voices’ The sector has benefitted from this infrastructure support.

  4. Denby Dale Centre With the help of VAC Denby Dale Centre have been able to network with other like minded organisations. The support the centre receive ensures they stay connected to what is going on. GWhat have we done?These are some of the projects we have undertaken over this period: Greater Huddersfield CCG (GHCCG) • Extended Access in GP services • Wheelchair Services • Pain Management Services • Patient Choice • Right Care, Right Time, Right Place: Travel and Transport • Care Homes • Equality Delivery System • Patient Reference Group Network (PRGN) Locala • Podiatry Services South West Yorkshire Partnership Foundation Trust (SWYPFT) • Older peoples services May 2017 • Older peoples services December 2017 • Older adults transformation programme • Enfield Down • Sahaarawomens emotional wellbeing group • Learning disability services – self examination • Perinatal mental health Kirklees MBC • Mental health and well-being needs assessment Calderdale and Huddersfield Foundation Trust (CHFT) • Older people, dementia and frailty services • Children services • Meeting the needs of those groups protected under the Equality Act West Yorkshire and Harrogate Health and Care Partnership (WYHHCP) • Voluntary and community sector event • Unpaid carers event • Stroke stakeholder event • Stroke stakeholder workshop VAC • Learning Disability engagement

Projects planned for 2017 – 18 which are now underway • Intermediate care: This is a joint piece of work with North Kirklees CCG and Kirklees Local Authority. • Primary care engagement and consultation: To work with GP practices to support the delivery of engagement and consultation processes to inform any future service developments or changes. • Right Care, Right Time, Right Place, hospital and community services: Work with the programme office to provide advice and support and develop an action plan for Travel and Transport. • Urgent care: provide insight from all engagement and consultation activity to inform the development of a model for urgent care. • Rehabilitation and Recovery in Mental Health:to support an a model for Rehabilitation and Recovery services across Kirklees. • Older People and Mental Health: to support a model for older people’s mental health services across Kirklees. • Wheelchair services: deliver pre-consultation engagement to help develop a model for wheelchair services. • Equality Objectives 2018/19: to deliver an action plan for equality which will help to identify methods and approaches to reaching groups

Supporting people to have a voice Johanna Hull (PCAN) discussing working with the CCG (click on image below to play this video): The CCG are co-delivering pre-consultation engagement on wheelchair services with the community. Parents of Children with Additional Needs (PCAN) are leading this work. Johanna Hull tells more about how this approach to involving people will support people to have a voice
