  2. Who are we? • Resident population is 94,805. • 19.3% of the population is school age. • In 2014, 8 LSOAs were in the 10% most deprived. (7 in Rhyl, 1 in Upper Denbigh). • The current e-FSM population is 19.2% (1260 pupils). • 2011 Census showed that 22,236 of Denbighshire Residents spoke Welsh.

What matters to us? • The Council has a clear ambition to maintain quality of services to address important issues raised by residents. • Younger People want to live and work In Denbighshire and have the skills to do so. Improving educational standards and protecting children from harm are top corporate priorities for the council.

Number of staff 289 • Gross Budget 12.9 million • Total number of Primary age children = 7763 • Total number of Secondary age children 6613 (888 pupils are post 16) • 5748 children are education through the medium of English in primary • 2015 children are educated through the medium of Welsh in primary • 1460 children are educated through the medium of Welsh in secondary • 5153 children are educated through the medium of English in secondary • 7 secondary schools • 1 middle school • 2 special schools • 46 primary schools (14 Welsh medium, 2 bilingual) • Number of LAC  - 182 • Number of Children on child protection register – 63

Service Priorities The Service is committed to delivering the 4 R’s: Right Knowledge Right Skill Right Offer Right Care and Support • Care support and protection for those children and young people who are vulnerable and are known to have adverse childhood experiences. • Students attaining the right knowledge and skill base in order to achieve their potential. • Building capacity and delivering efficient and effective support to schools in order to ensure that the offer we make to children and young people will enable them to lead happy, healthy and successful lives. • Support the Council commitment to improve services for out customers.
