Types of Phobias • Bacteriophobia- Fear of bacteria • Batophobia- Fear of heights or being close to high building • Arachnephobia or Arachnophobia- Fear of spiders. • Coulrophobia- Fear of clowns • Claustrophobia- Fear of confined spaces • Disposophobia- Fear of throwing stuff out. Hoarding • Achluophobia- Fear of darkness

  4. What is a Phobia? • According to the American Psychiatric Association, a phobia is an irrational and excessive fear of an object or situation. In most cases, the phobia involves a sense of endangerment or a fear of harm. For example, those suffering from Agoraphobia fear being trapped in an inescapable place or situation.

  5. How is it Developed? • Experts have not yet determined what the cause of Phobias are but many solutions have lead it to possibly be either Genetic or Environmental.

  6. Symptoms • Increased heart rate • Sweating • Shaking or trembling • Shortens of breath • The feeling of choking • Chest pains • Numbness

  7. Treatments • People with major phobias are simply Behavioral Therapy which could take a long period of time. Phobias can and most likely affect anyone and everyone.
