  2. Why did I choose Buzz Aldrin for my person • Well I choose Buzz Aldrin as my person because when I first started watching Lunar Jim (which was 4yrs ago. I was only 4 then) I’ve always been interested in being an astronaut and learning about famous astronauts.

  3. When was Buzz Aldrin born? • Buzz was born On the 20th of Jan 1930 .

  4. Does Buzz have a brother/sister? • Buzz has one baby sister called Fay Ann

  5. What was Buzz’s passion and his nemesis? • Football is his passion. • Homework was his nemesis.

  6. When was Buzz’s First time in an airplane/helicopter? • Buzz took his first flight at the age of two. • It was in an airplane. • It was painted like an eagle . • It was piloted by his father.

  7. Is ‘buzz’ Buzz’s real name? • NO! • His real name is Edwin.

  8. In 1951, Aldrin graduated from the U.S Military Academy and became an Air Force Officer. During the Korean conflict, Buzz flied Sabre Jets in 66 combat missions and successfully shot down two MIG-15’s. Later on life…(1950,1952)

  9. Following the war, Buzz served a three-year Air Force assignment in Bitburg, Germany flying F-100’s in the 22nd Squadron. In 1950 Buzz was selected by NASA as one of the early astronauts. His orbital space rendezvous design earned him the nickname Dr Rendezvous Still later on life…(1956,1960)

Also later on in life…(1989) Marking the 20th anniversary of the Apollo 11 lunar landing, Buzz published Men From Earth a detailed and astonishing account of America’s race with the Soviets to the moon. The book ends with an epilogue “Venturing Outward” , which looks toward future space travel through the year 2009.

  11. In November 1966, Buzz Aldrin established a new record for extra-vehicular activity (EVA) in space during Gemini 12 orbital flight mission. Buzz has logged 4,500 hours of flying time, 290 of which were in space, including 8 hours of EVA (extra-vehicular activity). GEMINI 12 (1966)

  12. GEMINI 12 (1966) Buzz and Jim’s successful return concluded the Gemini 12 program and sets the foundation for Apollo.

  13. APOLLO 8 (1966) Buzz is selected backup Command Module pilot (along with Neil Armstrong and Michael Collins) for Apollo 8, man’s first flight around the moon.

  14. On July 20th 1969, as part of the Apollo 11 mission, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin became the first humans to set foot on the moon. This unprecedented endeavour was witnessed by the largest television audience in history. APOLLO 11 (1969)

  15. APOLLO 11 MOONWALK (1969) Aldrin and Armstrong spent more than 21hrs on the Moon, including a moonwalk lasting two and a half hours. Everything was new to them. They kicked the soil to see how deep and dusty it was, tested different ways of moving around in the Moon’s weak gravitational field, took photographs and planted an American flag.

  17. Upon returning from the moon, Buzz embarked on a good will tour. He was awarded the President Medal of Freedom, the highest honor amongst over 50 other distinguished medals from the US (United States) and numerous other countries AFTER THEIR RETURN (1969)

  18. Buzz life book (1970) Buzzpublished a personal account of his life highlighting the different midlife and transitions that followed his historic trip to the moon.
