Advertising The act or practice of calling public attention to one's product, service, need, etc. Different forms of Advertising “In the United States alone about 6,000 advertising agencies help create and place advertisements in a variety of media, including newspapers, television, direct mail, radio, magazines, the internet, and outdoor signs. Advertising is so commonplace in the United States that an average person may encounter from 500 to 1,000 advertisements in a single day, according to some estimates.” - http://encarta.msn.com/encyclopedia_761564279/Advertising.html

  4. Slogans Catchy word or phrase to get your attention or help you remember the product.

  5. How is advertising Art?

  6. Yes… Because there needs to be a designer designing a product to advertise and sell. There are designers that create the actual advertisement: Which can be broken down into designers who create the initial sketches, those who simply create the type/ logos, and designers who compile this information into an advertisement.

  12. Concepts of Advertising • To sell a product. • To catch the viewer’s eye and appeal • to the viewer. • To reach a “Target Audience.” (A target audience • is who the company is selling to) • You as the viewer of the advertisement have • the choice to view it or not.

  13. Your Assignment • Brainstorm a product to design , create concept • sketches, a logo, and a set of advertisements. Think of: Who is my target audience ? What will my logo look like? What will be slogan or sales pitch be?
