National Skill Development Corporation • NSDC Role • To facilitate initiatives that can potentially have a multiplier effect • To involve the industry in all aspects of skill development. • To develop partnerships with multiple stakeholders and build on current efforts, rather than undertaking too many initiatives • To scale up efforts necessary to achieve the objective of skilling / upskilling 150 mnpeople. • To develop ultra low cost, high-quality, innovative business models • To Attract significant private investment • To Ensure that its funds are largely “re-circulating”; i.e. loan or equity rather than grant • To Create leverage for itself • To Build a strong corpus

Major Initiatives of NSDC • Sector skill Councils • National Occupational Stadards • Equity Funding for private & non profit organisations • Standard Training Assessment & Reward ( STAR) • UDAAN : To provide exposure to the graduates and post graduates of Jammu and Kashmir to the best of corporate India and • To provide corporate India with exposure to the rich talent pool available in the state

  4. Aajeevika - National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM) • Launched by the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), Government of India in June 2011. Aided in part through investment support by the World Bank, the Mission aims at creating efficient and effective institutional platforms of the rural poor enabling them to increase household income through sustainable livelihood enhancements and improved access to financial services. • NRLM Mission • 7 Crore BPL households • 600 districts • 6000 blocks • 2.5 lakh Gram Panchayats • 6 lakh villages in the country through self-managed Self Help Groups (SHGs)

The National Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board ( DST) • NSTEDB established by Government of India in 1982 is an institutional mechanism, with a broad objective of promoting gainful self-employment amongst the Science and Technology (S&T) manpower in the country and to setup knowledge based and innovation driven enterprises. • NSTEDB functions under the aegis of Department of Science & Technology. It has representation from socio-economic and scientific Departments / Ministries, premier entrepreneurship development institutions and all India Financial Institutions.

Major objectives of NSTEDB :  • To promote knowledge based and innovation driven enterprises. • To facilitate generation of entrepreneurship and self-employment opportunities for S & T persons. • To facilitate the information dissemination. • To network with various Central & State Government agencies for S&T based entrepreneurship development.  • To act as a policy advisory body to the Government agencies for S&T based entrepreneurship development. • To generate employment through technical skill development using S & T infrastructure.
