  2. What is Code of Ethics? A code of ethics is a collection of principles and practices that a business believes in and aims to live by.

  3. Why? A code of ethics can help a business determine its priorities and values.

  4. Better Understanding A business code of ethics works with a company's mission statement and more specific policies about conduct to give employees, partners, vendors, and outsiders an idea of what the company stands for and how its members should conduct themselves.

  5. Code of Ethics should address: The particular nuances of the company's industry as well as its broader goals for social responsibility. Should be concrete enough to serve as a guide for employees in a difficult situation without laying out rules for every situation that could arise.

  6. Components Many have two components. First, an aspirational section, often first and outlines what the organization aspires to, or the ideals it hopes to live up to. Second, an ethics code will typically list some rules or principles, which members of the organization will be expected to adhere to.
