Longitudinal evaluations • New Title VII requirement via ACA -- Increase awards to Title VII grants to conduct longitudinal evaluations • Evaluations must be capable of studying practice patterns and collecting and reporting performance measures as developed by Advisory Committees • Advisory Committees also responsible for developing guidelines for the longitudinal evaluations

Performance Measures • Currently being reviewed and revised by program staff • Replacing core measures focus with cluster measures and program-specific measures • Incorporating individual-level data on some programs to support longitudinal evaluation (not AHECs) • Adding activity measures – e.g., what do grantees do with their resources • Adding quality measures – e.g., acquisition of knowledge/competencies by trainees

  5. Evaluation • Focus on periodic, and longitudinal, studies • Will require data on individuals • Key questions: do trainees complete training, enter practice in the area of their training serving underserved areas, and are they retained (e.g., primary care in underserved areas).

  6. Process/Timeline Step Timing Currently Ongoing Submit end of May June/July Beginning July 1 • Measures revised • Input of grantees • OMB Clearance • TA to grantees • Grantees adopt new measures
