  1. Saturday SchoolEnrichment Program2012-13 Administrative Services June 17, 2013

  2. Purpose • Provide our students and our school’s the opportunity to offer and participate in extended learning opportunities (enrichment activities) that provide academic assistance and materials missed during an absence. • Recover Average Daily Attendance (ADA) revenue for students who were absent from school for truancy and/or absences, whether excused or unexcused. Absences due to suspension are not recoverable revenue. • Improve annual attendance rates at each school site. • Provide our students the opportunity to remove an absence from their attendance record. This allows the student to remain as a candidate for outstanding attendance.

  3. Program Structure • Seven Saturdays. • Four hours each session (8:00 a.m. to noon). • Student-teacher ratio of 30:1. • Each site is staffed with two certificated employees and a custodian (split shift). • Sandra Amatriain is the administrator on duty. • Students are served a meal. • All school sites have the opportunity to participate.

  4. Student Participation • Attendance clerks or other designated staff at each site identify students that have a truancy or an absence in the weeks prior to the Saturday school session. • Invitations are sent to targeted students. These must be returned and entered into Q/Zangle to determine the staffing needed and the number of meals to be served. • Students can sign up for a session on Saturday morning. • All students in grades 3 to 12 are welcome to participate regardless of their attendance history. JUSD only recovers ADA for students with a truancy or absence in the period prior to the Saturday school session.
