  11. Goals for 2007-2008 • XBT • 5 AX lines: AX01, AX05, AX11, AX15, AX20. • Replace the old XBT systems by Devil (CSIRO). 6 XBT Devil funded in 2006 (30 000 €) 6 XBT Devil funded in 2007 (30 000 €) • Data processing: CSIRO QC software or Ifremer QC software. • TSG • 5 AX lines: AX01, AX05, AX11, AX15, AX20. • Re-implement AX11 (Monte Olivia). • pCO2 • 2 AX lines: AX20, AX11. • Implement AX11 (Monte Olivia).

  12. Research vessels activities • XBT collection (2801 drops) • BEAUTEMPS-BEAUPRE FABB (1314) • POURQUOI PAS ? FMCY (244) • L'ATALANTE FMCM (497) • LE SUROIT FZVN (448) • LAPEROUSE FYCR (35) • BORDA FYCT (86) • THALASSA FNFP (133) • ANTEA FNUR (44) • Data are routinely transmitted in near real time on a daily basis • Data are collected for different purposes: • Calibrating the multi-beam echo-sounders • Scientific purposes (fisheries studies, physical oceanography) • On request: a amount of XBT is available to launch XBT when research vessels do transits between scientific cruises zones

  13. Research vessels activities • TSG data collection • Data are routinely collected & transmitted in near real time on a daily basis • During cruises or during transits even if there is no scientific objectives • Contribution to operational oceanography Beautemps-Beaupré Atalante Pourquoi-pas ? Le Suroît Thalassa

  14. Data distribution: the Coriolis data centre • 7 french research institutes have joined their efforts to build the Coriolis project which aims to propose the in-situ component of an operational oceanography system One of the major component is the Coriolis data centre
