IMEC • Founded: January 1984 by the Government of Flanders • Largest independent microelectronics research center of Europe • Annual research budget (1999): 80 million $ • Personnel (1999): ± 850 people • 30,000 m2 facilities, incl. 6000m2 ultra clean processing area (1750 m2 class 1) • Close worldwide interaction with industry • Closely associated with universities and research institutes throughout the world
