  2. Introduction: Religion played a great role during the time of the ancient Egypt. Egyptians were considered polystheistic which means they worshipped many gods.

  3. During the time of ancient Egypt, Egyptians believed that all sorts of natural calamities were controlled by the gods or goddesses.

  4. They believed in all sorts of gods and goddesses because they only understood a little about many aspects of the natural world. Like the annual flooding of the Nile.

  5. And because of all the natural calamities or events that had happened in their palce those calamities or events bacame a part of their religion.

  7. The Origin Myths During the time of ancient Egypt, Egyptians believed that in the beginning, the universe was filled with dark waters of chaos.

  8. While the Earth was created when Shu and and Tefnut gave birth to a two children named Nut which means sky and Geb which means Earth. One of the children of Shu and Tefnut. (Nut)

  9. While the humans were created when Shu and Tefnut were wandering in the dark wastes and got lost. The god Re-Atum sent his eyes to look for them and when they finally reunited his tears of joy turned into human beings. And that’s how Egyptians believed on how the world began.

  10. Death Beliefs As you know Egyptians believed in the concept of “death after life”. They believed that souls travelled through the after life that’s why they gave importance in preserving the bodies of the dead.

  11. They belived that the god Anubis was the one who judged the souls of the dead by weighing their hearts with the ostrich feather. Using this, Anubis knew wether that person did well during their stay on earth.

  13. Ra(God of Sun) • Ancient Egyptian considered Ra as the sun god. He was a major diety during the 5th dynasty. He was believed to be sailing across the sky in a papyrus boat, bringing the sun with him.

  14. Osiris(God of life, death, and fertility) • Osiris is considered to be one of the most important gods during the time of the ancient Egyptians. He is considered to be the god of life, death, and fertility.

  15. Isis(goddess) • Isis is a goddess in Egyptian mythology. She was the wife Osiris. She was also considered to be the protector of the children.

  16. Anubis(God of the Dead) • Anubis jackal-headed god. He was associated with mummification and the afterlife in the Egyptian myhtology.

  18. Egyptian temples were also part of the Egyptian religion. • Temples serves as the worshipping place for the Egyptians.

  19. They also kept it clean and organized according to the law of “Maat”. • If this law was disobeyed they believed that the god or goddess will leave and great unrest will happen to Egypt.

  20. The purpose of the temple was to be a cosmic center by which men had communication with the gods.

  26. Egyptian Priests • Egyptian priests were the servants of the deities. • They were told to keep records

  27. They also made sure that the people are following the rules of the pharaoh • They are more of a member of a local government rather than being holy figures

  28. Religion was really a big part for the people in Egypt during the ancient time. They believed in many dieties that they believed where everything came from. This kind of faith made Egypt one of the most unique countries today.
