  1. Rad-57Pulse Oximeter

  2. Rad-57 Display % SpO2 Visual Alarm Indicator Perfusion Index Indicator Signal IQ™ Indicator Low SIQ Indicator Pulse Rate BPM Alarm Silence Indicator Battery Level Indicator

  3. Rad-57 Display Components Signal IQ Indicator– The Signal IQ provides an indication of the quality of the acquired signal as well as the timing of the pulse. A green vertical LED bar rises and falls with the pulse, where the height of the bar indicates quality of the signal. Low SIQ Indicator- Flashes to indicate low Signal IQ condition. Visual Alarm Indicator- Illuminates when any alarm condition exists. This indicator may not be turned-off or otherwise over-ridden. Perfusion Index Indicator– The Perfusion Index provides an indication of blood flow at the site. It uses the percentage of pulsatile signal to non pulsatile signal. The bar is highest when the quality of the perfused site is best. A Low perfusion condition is indicated by a bar height of two bars or less and the bars turn red (<0.8).

  4. Rad-57 Display Components Alarm Silence Indicator – Flashes to indicate the alarm is temporarily Silenced for 2 minutes. Battery Level Indicator– Four LED indicators provide information on the remaining battery life.

  5. Rad-57 Controls Display Button Alarm Silence Button Mode/Enter Button Next Button Up and Down Buttons Power On/Off Button

  6. Rad-57 Controls Power On/Off Button Alarm Silence Button – Press once to temporarily silence the alarm for 120 seconds. Push a second time to return the device to standard alarm monitoring Display Button – Pressing this button will cycle through the numeric values of the enabled parameters/measurements Next Button – Used within the menu/setup system to move through setup options. Not active when default screen displays. Up/Down – During saturation monitoring, used to adjust the volume of the pulse beep tone. Within the menu/setup system, used to select values within each menu option. Enter Button – Used to enter the setup menus and to select or activate certain entries within the menu/setup system.

  7. Adjusting the Alarm Volume Press the Enter Button once. 1X

  8. Adjusting the Alarm Limits Press the Enter Button twice..

  9. Adjusting the Sensitivity Level Press the Enter Button three times to enter the sensitivity menu. Use Up or Down Arrow Keys to adjust parameter to desired setting. Defaults to Normal (Nor), select Maximum (HI) sensitivity on patients with poor perfusion (two lower LED’s will turn red)

  10. Troubleshooting • Low Signal IQ: Signal quality is very weak and accuracy may be compromised. --Check sensor application, alignment and ensure adequate blood flow • Low Perfusion: Perfusion is too weak to detect an adequate signal. --Inspect sensor site for occlusion to blood flow --Change sensitivity to MAX until condition resolves

  11. Rad-57 Battery Compartment • Battery Compartment • Located in back panel • Holds 4 “AA” alkaline batteries • Operates up to 10 hours

  12. Cleaning the Rad-57 The outer surface of the Rad-57 can be cleaned with a soft cloth dampened with a mild detergent and warm water solution. To clean the display panel of the Rad-57 use a cotton swab moistened with 70% isopropyl alcohol and gently wipe the panel. Remember to clean the interior of the reusable sensor in between patients.

  13. Rad-57 Test Questions • Now that you have completed this presentation, return to the CMC internet education website where this module is located and open the test questions titled “Massimo Rad-57 Oximetry Training Test”. Print it, complete the test and bring with you to the hands on training session. You will be required to turn this in as part of the competency for completing this education.
