  2. What is Google Wave? • Personal Communication and Collaboration Tool • Merges E-mail, Instant Messaging, Wikis, and Social Networking • Everything is Instant • Open-source • Gadgets and Extensions Allowing People to do Almost Anything

Why Would a Business Need It? • Great Tool for Communication1 • Work together with richly formatted text, photos, videos, maps, video conferencing, and more. • Share Information With Several People at Once • Google Wave is Completely Live! • See Everything Happen Live. It is Even Possible to Rewind an Entire Wave and Playback Everything.

  4. When Will Google Wave Be Ready? • Google Wave is currently in a preview stage. • To get the preview to Google Wave, one must be invited • Since Google Wave is still being developed, with the help of the public, it may “take years before Wave fully penetrates large corporations”4

Industries That Will Use Google Wave • “Wave is built for the corporate environment”4 • It is currently being tested as a media tool. • “The Seattle Times has started a wave to track an ongoing manhunt in the Seattle area”2 • There are nearly 500 participants involved in the Google Wave manhunt, successfully making the news more widely distributed.

  7. Industry Threats • Google Wave is a threat to businesses such as AOL, Facebook, and other social networking or E-mail websites. • It is not meant to be a threat! • Made to help businesses and corporations with organization and collaboration issues.

Evaluation • Google Wave has potential • It is currently only is its preview stage • Needs time to improve, fix glitches • Not very user friendly right now, but can and will be improved • Gadget features increase potential • Just like the iPhone Apps, gadgets can be created for almost anything. Still in its beginning stages, it already has very useful gadgets such as Video Conference.

  9. Will It Be Successful? • “It’s a tool for getting work done. And as far as those go, it’s an excellent tool, even at this very early stage.”4 • Eventually Google Wave will replace E-mail in large corporations and businesses • Google Wave WILL be successful and should be watched closely while it improves
