  1. Mario Booker: Tips for Keeping Kids Engaged in the Classroom

  2. For more than fourteen years, Mario Booker has been engaging his students and inspiring them to become life-long learners. He employs a number of innovative teaching strategies in order to foster a fun and fascinating learning environment. Being able to get students focused and eager to learn can be difficult. Here are some tips to help you keep your students engaged in the classroom

  3. Start each class with a mind warm-up. Ask your students to find mistakes that have been planted in the material on the board. Have them work collaboratively and competitively to help eliminate any dead time at the beginning of class

  4. Keep kids focused by using movement. Have your students stand behind their desks and join in the simple physical movement. They will find the task invigorating and it is easy to monitor participation

  5. When interest starts to want or you need to settle the class down after a group activity, have them complete a quick journal-writing assignment. This gives them time to settle down and reflect.

  6. Mix up your teaching styles throughout the week. Move from teacher-centered learning to student-centered active learning to keep them involved and on their toes
