Advocating Care Excellence (ACE) • NCAL’s new banner to house all quality resources and tools for the membership • NCAL Quality Web site to debut March 1 • Has all inservice tools created to date • Links to collaborative partners (MIV, CEAL, AALNA, and Provider Management) • Links to all of NCAL’s Guiding Principles • Currently have many resources to improve quality of care and quality of life for our customers

  3. Advocating Care Excellence (ACE) The ACE program is based on NCAL’s five guiding principles for quality, including: Person-centered caring Ethical practices and financial stewardship Facility mission and vision statements Quality improvement Workforce

Resources and Tools Slated for 2009 • Guiding Principles for Dementia Care • Guiding Principles for Leadership • Inservice training program to better serve the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender populations in assisted living • Inservice tool to establish successful practices for move outs/discharges • Identify performance measures for assisted living for optimal operational performance

  6. Resources and Tools Slated for 2009 • Develop core competencies for assisted living administrators • Create the NCAL/AHCA Caring for Our Caregivers Web site to highlight information on employee retention practices • Continue the collaborative partnership with My InnerView

My InnerView-NCAL’s Data Partner • Began partnership in February 2008 • Toolkit created for state affiliates and NCAL members to educate providers about the importance of data collection http://www.myinnerview.com/ncal.php • 925 NCAL communities to participate in customer satisfaction through MIV- 2009 goal

Center for Excellence in Assisted Living(CEAL) • CEAL is a non-profit collaborative of 11 national organizations (4 assisted living trade associations, AARP, Pioneer Network, Paralyzed Veterans, among others) • Celebrating its five-year anniversary • Purpose: To foster access to high quality assisted living by • Creating resources to facilitate quality improvement • Increasing the availability of research on quality practices • Housing a national clearinghouse of information • Providing resources and technical expertise to facilitate the development and operations of high-quality, affordable assisted living programs to serve low- and moderate-income individuals

CEAL • NCAL has held leadership roles in CEAL all five years • CEAL is currently working on several large scale projects including: • AHRQ on a three year project in the development of a consumer disclosure tool • CEAL-UNC Study on Medication Administration • 2009 Summit • NCAL staff and members deeply involved in all projects • Dave Kyllo is Chair of CEAL • Shelley Sabo is Chair of CEAL’s Advisory Council • www.theceal.org
