  3. Cultural issues – risk averse, need people to aspire too, self-inspired, not just medicine or law Accessing skills by industry – hard to find and when we find them celebrate. Signposting by govt? or mobilise private sector? needed in skills brokerage. How do we expand on Digital Circle subsector communication to other sectors
  4. Nothing different in economic strategy will break the cycle --- need an abrupt change but this will take long time to embed. What are the cultural changes needed long-term – short fixes in grants won’t help
  5. Overhaul education system 50% of people go into business have a family member. How to move from Institutional  cultural change. cultural change happens in community and primary school How do we find incentivise and support the top 20%
  6. “Geeks” not good at people skills and sales skills –we need to invest to help negotiating skills or do we merge people for win-win. What does a geek need? Issues around perception if you don’t wear a suit. How do we get industry into schools given all the paperwork around child protection Starts with parents Moves to schools

Creativity ESTEAM Do we need multi-skills or specialists Entrepreneurs ---- problem with the apprentice trap implies indiv needs multi-skills, jack of all trades (HR, sales) --- Match creative people to skill sets needed. “learning hub” virtual / physical. Mentorship skills, walk in – “I need….” dynamic service, vibrant =shared knowledge.

Main issues identified Cultural change – promote entrepreneurialism as an option – potentially enough in system productive, non-productive, destructive entreprenurs – what is the pull to each of these How do we access skills (outside ICT)? Do we know what skills we need? We need to improve skills by delivering basic needs. FDI not attracted by skills its cheap labour.
