  1. IT EXPO – SIP Trunking Workshop BroadWorks SIP Trunking Overlay Services 10/6/2010

  2. Integrated Access – SIP Trunk: Feature Breakdown PSTN • Provides standard access trunk functionality via SIP • CPE is typically an IP PBX • Managed Router (typically the same IAD) is used as a demarcation point only and does not conversion of voice or signaling • BroadWorks delivers: • POTS features for trunks (typically only caller ID, hunting) • Enhanced Overlay Features to IP PBX handset with DIDs Softswitch BroadWorks Application Server IP Core SBC DSL Managed Router LAN Segment IP PBX . . . . . . Integrated Access – Line/Trunk

  3. SIP trunk as plug-and-play as ISDN • SIP Trunking Support Program • SIPconnect 1.X Certification • IP PBX interop program • Comprehensive test plans and documented configurations • BD relationships with IP PBX vendors • Over 30 different IP PBXs successfully interop by BroadSoft and our customers • Longer Term • We are leading the efforts around defining SIPconnect 1.1 • On the SIP forum board • Our specifications contributed to the technical working team • Strict SIPconnect compliance testing

  4. Overlay Feature for Business Connectivity • BroadWorks supports the ability to drive network-based “features” to individual DIDs: • Works with business lines connected to phones, and business trunks and SIP trunks when the phones have DIDs • Works for Virtual DIDs when end customer has Key System or does not have DIDs on a PBX • BroadWorks also supports the ability to provide “group” features to an enterprise as a whole • Examples include: Conferencing, Site-level Rerouting, Bursting • Carriers typically take these features and build “add-on” services for their integrated access offerings

  5. Top Overlay Features for Business Connectivity • Business Continuity (Call Rerouting) • Simultaneous Ring • BroadWorks Anywhere • Remote Office • Hosted Telecommuter • Salesforce.com (CRM) Integration • Video telephony and conferencing

  6. Overlay Feature: Business Continuity • Business Continuity is comprised of the following functionality: • Incoming call routing (Call Forwarding Always, Call Forwarding Unreachable, etc.) • Other functions such as Sim Ring, Remote Office, etc that promotes work outside of the office • BroadWorks support many different types of call forwarding – generally broken down into two categories • User-Level – Individual users (DIDs) have control over how incoming calls are forwarded • Site-Level – A site administrator has control over how all incoming calls to a site (SME) are forwarded • Business Continuity Call Forwarding Types Supported • Call Forwarding Always (Pilot # and DIDs) • Call Forwarding No Answer (Pilot # and DIDs) • Call Forwarding Unreachable (Pilot # and DIDs) • Call Forwarding Unreachable (Trunk Group)

  7. Call Forwarding Unreachable (Trunk Group) Unreachable Destination • Included in standard Trunk Group Functionality • Ability to reroute all incoming calls destined to a Trunk Group when it is unavailable • “Unavailability” based on expiration of configurable timer (default 5 seconds) after sending a SIP INVITE and not receiving a response • Each incoming call is checked for unavailability • Configurable reroute options: forward to another TG, forward to a DN; return “busy” treatment • Configurable “unavailability” thresholds that generate SNMP traps Yes Threshold Crossed SNMP Alarm SNMP Alarm Notifications No Action Reroute Forward None Forward Call Reroute Call Busy Call Actions

  8. Overlay Feature: Simultaneous Ring • Simple feature that can be applied to either the pilot # or individual DIDs in a enterprise • Ring up to 10 pre-configured number at the same time • Works even when the PBX connection is lost (Business Continuity) • Typically requires that the PBX user has a DID (otherwise the Sim Ring would reach the attendant) PSTN 1 PBX or IP PBX 2a 2b IP or PBX Phone 240-364-5185 240-888-1230
