JOB VACANCY Localism Support Officer Salary details: Circa £9,270 - £10,330 Job term: Fixed Term, Part Time Hours:20 hours per week Location: West Devon, Devon Organisation: DISTRICT COUNCILS Closing date:15 June 2012 Interview date:27/ 28 June 2012 (provisional) West Devon Borough Council, with support from Devon County Councillors, have created a unique and innovative opportunity to work with local communities to ensure the benefits of the new localism agenda are delivered within the Borough. You will need to be able to work flexibly and have excellent communication skills and experience of community engagement. Your key areas of focus will be: Promoting the opportunities available to Town and Parish Councils through the Localism Act and associated work of the Borough Council Working with County and Borough Councillors and Officers in the development of a model for future joint working between all three tiers of local government. Supporting Town and Parish Councils and Community Groups to take responsibility for influencing or delivering services currently undertaken by the Borough or County Councils. The successful candidate must have access to their own transport and be able to attend evening meetings on a regular basis. A local connection to West Devon is desirable.
