  1. Book title:System of equations

  2. Page 367 #7 and 8 Review • With your group members solve the following problems • Solve each equation or formula for the specified variable Solve for y when x=3 • Y=2x+5

  3. Foldable/Book • Number your pages • Page 1: Real world example • Pages 2: Substitution • Pages 3-4: Elimination • Pages 5-6:Solve by graphing

  4. Page 1 What is a system of equation used for? real life example: You just got your first job working at Piggly Wiggly but you have also been baby sitting on the side to earn extra money. You want to know how many hours at each job you need to work for a month to earn 500 dollars to buy the new playstation 4. You make $8 dollars an hour at the pig and your neighbor pays your $9 dollars an hour to watch their two kids. You work a total of 20 hours a week from both jobs. How do we solve this problem? For system of equations you want to make a chart to organize the two different jobs/facts Step one: Write down the important information and organize the information

  5. Step one: Write down the important information and organize the information We have two equations and two variables this is called a system of equations lets learn how to solve it!

  6. Solving Systems by substitution Page 377 example 1 • Just like when we have Solve for y when x=3 • Y=2x+5 • Substituting with systems works the same with an equation • Example: y=3x X+2y=-21

  7. Review Substitution
