  5. History of UCSF UCSF was founded as Toland Medical College in 1864, and in 1873 affiliated itself with the University of California, becoming it’s Medical Department. In the same year, it incorporated the California College of Pharmacy and in 1881 it established the School of Dentistry. It’s facilities were located in both Berkeley and San Francisco.

It is activated when there is an immediate threat to safety or health affecting the campus community.
