  3. Enterprises North Job Creation Program Who is Eligible • New and existing enterprises that will create jobs in Northern Ontario. What is Eligible • Capital construction costs, leasehold improvements, purchase of new or used equipment/machinery and intellectual capital that results in job creation in Northern Ontario. Type of Assistance • Repayable Loans. • NOHFC assistance to any one project generally will not exceed 50% of eligible capital costs up to $1 million.

  4. Northern Ontario Youth Internship and Co-op Program Who is Eligible • A wide range of both private sector and public sector employers located in Northern Ontario. What is Eligible • Co-op placements and internships. Type of Assistance • Conditional contributions.

Northern Ontario Youth Internship and Co-op Program Co-op Placements • NOHFC funding generally will not exceed 50% of a wage subsidy to a maximum of $6.00 per hour to hire post-secondary students from Northern Ontario. Internships • NOHFC funding generally will not exceed 50% to a maximum of $27,500 annually for private sector employers to hire recent college and university graduates from Northern Ontario.

  6. Northern Ontario Young Entrepreneur Program Who is Eligible • Residents of Northern Ontario 18 to 29 years old (inclusive) who are planning on starting their own business in the North. What is Eligible • Capital costs related to starting a new business such as office furniture, fixtures and equipment. Type of Assistance • Conditional contributions. Funding • NOHFC assistance generally will not exceed 85% of eligible costs up to $25,000.

  7. Small Business Energy Conservation Program Who is Eligible • A wide range of new or existing small to medium sized enterprises that have fewer than 100 employees. What is Eligible • Energy retrofit planning, energy retrofit projects and new internal energy generating projects. Type of Assistance • Conditional contributions.

  8. Small Business Energy Conservation Program Energy Retrofit Planning • NOHFC funding generally will not exceed 50% of eligible costs up to a maximum of $25,000. Energy Retrofit Projects • NOHFC funding generally will not exceed 50% of eligible costs or $7.50 per gigajoule of savings up to a maximum of $250,000. New Internal Energy Generation Projects • NOHFC funding generally will not exceed 50% of eligible costs up to a maximum of $250,000.

  9. Emerging Technology Program Who is Eligible • Private sector companies or consortiums of companies. What is Eligible • Information & communications technology sector projects, centres of excellence, film development & production, value-added products and biotechnology & life sciences projects. Type of Assistance • The private sector component is repayable loans.

  10. Emerging Technology Program Private Sector Emerging Technology • Generally, up to 33.3% for capital projects in the form of repayable loans normally not to exceed $1 million. Also, the NOHFC may provide up to $50,000 non-repayable contributions for research and developmental technical projects.

  11. Application to NOHFC’s New Programs • Application forms are available on the NOHFC website at www.nohfc.com or may be obtained from Government Information Centres, Ministry of Northern Development and Mines offices, in Dryden - Serge Cossais, 223-8501, or the NOHFC. • All applications must be completed and submitted to the NOHFC.
