Examples • Nano-emulsions – improve the texture of sauces or can reduce the amount of fat in mayonnaise or ice-cream • Nano-capsules – adds nutrients to food without changing the texture or flavour food itself or allows the nutrients to be more readily absorbed by the body • Nano food synthesisers – can alter food molecules such as reducing the cholesterol in meat • Nano-bots – are microbe-destroying minute robots that can make food safe • Nano-sensors – added to food packaging of high risk foods such as meat will detect the presence of pathogens and will change the colour of the packaging as a warning
