  3. Project Objectives • To Quantify and assess severity Of RTA’s • Assess pattern & behavior of accidents on Major Arterials • Presentation of collected data on GIS • Identification of Major causes of accidents • Detailed analysis and improvement of Black Spots

  4. Description • Collection of data from five hospitals • JPMC • Civil Hospital • Abbasi Shaheed Hospital • Liaquat National Hospital & • Aga Khan Hospital • By 30 Research Assistants 24x7 • All data is collected & Analyzed • We are trying to bring some more hospitals in our cycle

Project Progress • 17600 cases have been registered in seven months ( from Sep 06 to March 07) • Data of last Seven months has been collected & analyzed using SPSS • Major causes of accident have been categorized • Many Black Spots have been identified & analyzed • We are working on presentation of data on GIS

Korangi Road • Section of Korangi Road from Qayyumabad to end of Korangi Naddi is critical • 678 cases have been reported in last seven months & 24 were expired, most of the cases are reported from this section • Two way traffic is operated on 40 ft wide road • Besides over speeding and overtaking, other factors are:

  38. M.A. Jinnah Road • 1165 cases were reported from Sep 06 to March 07 • M.A. Jinnah road was analyzed in different sections • Numaish Intersection • Jama Cloth Intersection

  39. NUMAISH INTERSECTION • Numaish Intersection is a high-risk zone for pedestrians • Vehicular accidents were reported because of wrong way driving

  41. Jama Cloth Intersection • Right of way for left turn through Phool Wali Gali was provided without changing the geometry of Intersection • Inadequate provision of pedestrian refuge and bus stop, while there is huge pedestrian flow due to market
