  1. MUST HAVE SHOULD HAVE COULD HAVE Module # 060

  2. Designing a Qi system • Objectives: • Know the steps involved in designing a system • Be able to identify Channels • Be able to identify Material Paths • What are the steps? • Evaluate physical equipment – determine: • # of channels (instruments) • # of Material paths (ingredients) • # of Qi,s • # of Qi bridges (Qi’s with comms interfaces installed)

  3. Hardware Control Configuration & Setup Sequence • Plan hardware options (scale, flowmeter cards, etc) • Construct (install cards) • Calibrate instruments • ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ • Plan PAC configuration (# Material Paths, Channels) • Configure PAC database • Commision Materials and Channels • Optimize PAC parameters • ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  4. Material Paths & Channels MP4 MP5 GIW MP9 MP1 MP2 MP3 GIW Chan 4 Chan 2 Chan 1 MP6 MP7 LIW LIW Each Channel and Material Path has a page of parameters in the Qi, which must be configured Hint: MP8 destination is “don’t care” and must then be set to 255 Chan 3 MP8 LIW

  5. Hardware required? • Total Scales = 3, which is 2 scale boards • Total Flowmeters = 1, which is 1 board • Comms Interface = 1, which is 1 board • Total = 4 boards, we therefore need a total of 2 x Qi’s • Qi #1 : 1x Scale, 1x Scale, 1x Comms interface • Qi #2 : 1x Flowmeter board

  6. Flowmeter Scale IP Add: 100.100.100.1 Matroller ID = 1 Our own Training Stand in more detail

  7. Our planning Table

  8. Flowmeter Scale IP Add: 100.100.100.1 Matroller ID = 1 Our Training stand MP1 GIW GIW MP7 CH2 CH1 MP3 LIW

  9. Review Questions • Is the discharge valve a Material Path? • What is the destination channel for: • MP1 ? • MP3 ? • MP7 ?

  10. 060 - Revision notes • Each scale or flowmeter is counted as a channel in the Qi database • Each material that is added is a Material Path in the database • A discharge from a scale is also a Material Path • LIW, discharges and flow meters have “Destination Channels” which MUST be entered correctly, the default value will not work. • Draw up a table with a row for each MP. The number of columns is up to you depending on how many parameters you feel like listing.
