VSA VSA, the international organization on arts and disability, was founded in 1974 by Ambassador Jean Kennedy Smith to provide arts and education opportunities for people with disabilities and to increase access to the arts for all. 2011, VSA merged with the Kennedy Center's Office on Accessibility to become the Department of VSA and Accessibility at the John F. Career Exploration • Program Purpose: to aid transition from high school to college 100 PSRC students with disabilities are given information on: • the Admissions process • Differences between high school and college (IDEA/ADAAA) • Assistive technology options • Choosing a career • Vocational rehabilitation services.

  9. Career Exploration Program Overview • Admissions overview • Split into concurrent sessions: Each group has a leader from Delta Sigma Omicron • Disability Support Services • Assistive technology • Career Services • Vocational Rehabilitation overview • Survey

Workforce Recruitment Program (WRP) • Co-sponsored by the US Dept. of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy and the US Dept. of Defense • Coordinated on campus by Career Services and DSS • Recruiters for Federal and private agencies come to campus to interview students with disabilities for summer and permanent positions

  11. WRP Continued • Participating campuses must guarantee a minimum of 8 students • Students upload resumé and application packet prior to interview • Placement may be anywhere in the US

  12. WRP Continued • Once interviewed, all data uploaded to database • Employers contact students directly • WRP does not track offers
