  1. The ECOST information platform(WP2)

  2. Plan • The objectives of the platfom • The framework • Demo of the data base web server (Casimir Compaoré) • Spatial issues (Guinee Bissau and Michael Gras)

  3. The objectives of the platform • To define the data use agreement of the ECOST project (D2.0) • To build an information platform on which the ECOST model development will rely. That implies 3 steps: • To carry out a preliminary inventory of available data D2.2 • To specify the information requirements of the model D2.1 • To gather physically the needed data sets, to organize them and to make them available on a server (for the ECOST model builders). • To make these information/data available for scientific community and for public on a long term time.

  4. The framework: ECOST actors and the information flows 2 3 1 4 7 5 6 8

  5. Done by WP2.1 : « construction of information for economics, sociology and ecology » Done by the first stage of WP2.4 « preliminary inventory of the data » Putting face to facedata requirements of the modelandactual data availability

  6. The model designers should be in charge of the first stage: they have to put on the table the information requirements of their « dream model ». As a secund stage, they should look at the actual data availability.. and have a discussion on feasibility with the data providers and with the data managers (statisticians). Then, as a final stage, a consensus about contents, formats and scales (time steps, spatial grids) of the data requested should arise. Who have to describe data requirements of the model ? How to describe data requirements of the model ? A first step : to precise the role of data with regard to the model A secund step: to precise the way of describing the information required
