  1. Travel Guide for Weslaco, TX

  2. - In south Texas, people come and visit places that tell a lot about our town. Tourists visit Brownsville, TX to walk Gladys porter Zoo. This zoo is home to rare and endangered species from around the world. Tourists also visit South Padre Island. It’s an awesome beach for people to play and enjoy the fresh cool water in the summer time. South padre Gladys Porter Zoo

  3. MEXICO! People come to visit our neighboring country, Mexico. You can get lots of souvenirs while you’re there. It is fun to visit another culture and way of life. Another tourist attraction is our many wild life refuges. This area has several sites designated as part of the World Birding Centers. People come from around the world to hopefully spot a rare bird. One area on the southern edge of Weslaco is Santa Ana Wildlife Refuge. Most of the kids in our class have been there. Since it is so cold up north, many retired people come here to get warm during the winter months. We call them Winter Texans. They live in RVs and trailer homes.

  4. Before visiting this area in the summer time, be sure to pack shorts, sandals, sun hats, and sunscreen. Our temperatures are in the high 90s to 100s F for several months. Our winter temperatures are around 50-70 degrees F. The people of Weslaco and all of South Texas are mostly Catholics. You will have no trouble finding an English or Spanish speaking Catholic service. Unfortunately, we do not recommend travelling to Mexico at this time. There is lots of extreme violence in that country amongst drug cartels fighting for power.

  5. Come to South Texas for a relaxed way of life!
