  2. Music Lab #4Pitched Rhythm Instruments Xylophones, metallophones, and glockenspiels are similar instruments. Xylophones are constructed with wooden or metal bars of varying lengths that are mounted on a platform usually made of wood. Metallophones consist of metal bars that have been tuned and placed over a resonator box. Glockenspiels look like small xylophones with metal bars. The instruments are played by striking with a mallet. Xylophone Metallophone Copyright © 2006 Thomson Delmar Learning. All Rights Reserved.
