  1. Dear Dempsey, While I was in Ancient Greece, I visited a young, wealthy woman's home an family. I learned that Hestia is the goddess of home and hearth. Most Athenian women marry at young age, as young as 14, marriages arranged by their parents. Their main responsibility was over seeing and taking care of the house hold. Wealthy women had male slaves to gather produce from their garden. Also, some women were religious figures or priestesses. They conducted rituals, recited prayers, and looked after sacred objects. In Ancient Greece, it is very unique how women have so many different jobs and responsibilities. From, Your Pal Sam Roberts
