College Readiness Indicators In response to legislative action and executive order from the Governor, the Performance section of the AEIS report has been restructured to group certain indicators under this heading. These indicators help provide a picture of college preparedness at a given high school, and can be used by educators as they work to ensure that students are able to perform college-level course work at institutions of higher education.

  11. College Readiness Indicators The indicators include: • Advanced Course/Dual Enrollment Completion • RHSP/DAP Graduates • AP/IB Results • TSI Higher Education Readiness Component • SAT/ACT Results • College-Ready Graduates

  12. Advanced Course/Dual Enrollment Completion Indicator is based on a count of students who complete and receive credit for at least one advanced course in grades 9-12. Advanced courses include dual enrollment courses.

  15. RHS/DAP Graduates This indicator shows the percent of graduates who were reported as having satisfied the course requirements of the Texas State Board of Education Recommended High School Program or Distinguished Achievement Program.

  25. Texas Success Initiative –Higher Education Readiness Component • TSI is a program designed to improve student success in college. It requires students to be assessed in reading, writing, and math skills prior to enrolling in college, and to be advised on the results of that assessment. • Students may be exempted from taking a test for TSI if they score a 2200 on their TAKS math and ELA with a written composition score of 3 or higher on the writing component.

  28. SAT/ACT Results Class of 2006 Results include the College Board’s ACT and ACT, Inc.’s ACT Assessment. Only one record is sent per student. If a student takes an ACT or SAT test more than once, the agency receives the record for the most recent examination.

  29. SAT/ACT Results Class of 2006 Three values are calculated for this indicator: • Tested. Shows the percent of graduates who took either college admissions test • At/Above Criterion. Shows percent of examinees who scored at or above the criterion score on either test (1110 on the SAT, or 24 on the ACT) • Mean Score. Shows the average (mean) score for the SAT total and the mean score for the the ACT composite • Writing score not included in SAT calculations

  38. College-Ready Graduates This new indicator of college readiness is shown on the AEIS reports for the first time this year. It was created in response to a new statue (TEC 39.051(b)(13) that requires establishing an indicator of “…the measure of progress toward preparation for postsecondary success.”
