  3. Two children playing with a toy phone…… • Share experiences with others • Starting to form a friendship • Responding to each other to keep the game going • Demonstrating friendly behaviour

  4. Some girls looking at princess books…. • Initiating conversations, attending to and taking account of what others say • Forming a small friendship group • Becoming more outgoing and more confident in social situations • Confident to talk to others

  5. The learning behind the photos….PD- Physical Development

  6. Playing with playdough…. • Developing fine motor skills • Using one-handed tools and equipment • Developing control • Manipulating an object using a range of actions e.g. patting, pushing, rolling, squashing Feeds in to writing, pencil control and art

  7. Playing hide and seek… • Experimenting with different ways of moving • Negotiating space • Moving freely with pleasure and confidence in a range of ways • Having fun!

  9. Playing with the barbies…. • Using language to imagine and recreate roles and experiences • Linking statements but sticking to a main theme • Using a range of tenses • “You have beautiful purple hair” • “Oh thank you” Feeds in to Literacy and drama

  10. Singing with some teddies…. • These children are using a story sack from the story sack library • Singing 5 little Woolly teddy bears • Joining in with repeated refrains and phrases • Listening and showing interest in play with songs Feeds in to literacy, drama and maths

  12. Painting circles….. • Using one handed tools • Developing fine motor skills • Developing grip and control over the paintbrush • Using anticlockwise motions to lead into early letter formation

  13. Three boys with notepads…. • Make marks which form the early stages of writing • Give meaning to some of their marks • Beginning to use a tripod grip and develop the fine motor skills to hold writing tools Investigations feed in to science

  15. Children playing ice-cream shops….. • Beginning to use everyday language realted to money • Recognising numbers • Using language to recreate a role (and order an icecream!) • Covers all the areas of learning Developing numeracy

  16. Some girls playing hopping games…. • Developing number recognition • Selecting the correct numeral • Putting numbers in sequence • Showing an interest in numbers • Balancing on one foot

  17. A boy with his apron on back to front…… • “ There’s one small baby, but there’s 3 babies, one there, there and there.” • He is developing early number skills • He uses number names accurately during everyday play • Uses language of size and starts to categorise

  19. Chinese New Year…. • Shows interest in the lives of others • Shows interest in different ways of life • Looking at similarities and differences between themselves and others • Building up vocabulary Investigations feed in to science

  20. A pretty picture the little girl drew….. • Knows some of the things that make them unique and can talk about similarities and differences • Noticing detailed features • Uses a range of vocab to describe what she has created

  21. A girl has drawn some ants she saw in the woods….. • Noticing detailed features of the environment • Can talk about things they have observed and is starting to use media to record and express these experiences • This is early science plus writing!

  23. A boy with his hands in some jelly and dinosaurs….. • Beginning to be interesting in and describing the texture of things • Using sentences to connect thoughts “It cold and slimey and dinosaur is hiding.” • He may also build a story around the dinosaurs e.g. they are stuck, hiding or needing rescue • A good one for language development!

  24. Cooking… • Covering all areas of learning and so valuable • A multisensory experience
