Learning Targets: Style, Tone, & Mood • I will be able to interpret and state the style, tone and mood of a reading passage through word choice by the author. • I will be able to determine how style, tone, and mood effect a story. • I will be able to define style, tone, and mood.
Learning targets: Graphic Organizers I will understand and be able to describe why using graphic organizers can help with my reading comprehension. I will be able to determine which graphic organizer to use when reading different types of text. I will be able to use graphic organizers to lay out a plan for my writing.
Context Clues Learning Target: Define the meaning of unknown words through context clues and the author’s use of comparison, contrast, definition, restatement, antonym/synonym and example.
LEARNING TARGETS: Fact & Opinion At the end of this lesson I will be able to: • I will know the difference between fact and opinion, and I will be able to identify facts and opinions in texts.

Writing: 400 Everyday life in space is different from life on earth. Even sleeping is an adventure for astronauts. Some astronauts like to float free in the Shuttle to sleep, gently bouncing off a wall once in a while. Other astronauts sleep better if they are zipped into a sleeping bag. This feels more like sleeping in a bed on earth. There's even a little pillow they can fasten to their heads with a strap! Astronauts have a hard time staying clean in space. There is no shower or bathtub on the Shuttle, so astronauts have to take sponge baths. They can brush their teeth the regular way, but have to be careful that toothpaste globs don't drift away.
