CHC’s housing • Not-for-profit providing quality community and affordable housing; • Independent of Government; • Caters for people on low to moderate incomes • Does not receive recurrent subsidies from Government; • Transfer of 132 properties from the ACT Government, • Average age of properties is 36 years and are in need of refurbishment/replacement; • Affordable housing to meet the following dwelling targets: • Rental - 250 within 5 years, 500 within 10 years • Sale – 220 within 5 years, 500 within 10 years

  3. Target market • Housing gap between public housing and open market • Estimated 78,000 households in gap

  4. Target market • Childcare; • Aged care; • Police; • Ambulance personnel; • Nurses; • Community development workers; and • Transport workers.

National Initiatives • National Rental Affordability Scheme • 100,000 new rental dwellings through tax credits of $8,000 PA • Subsidy extend to the not for profit sector • Chief Minister has agreed to support CHC • $6,000 from Commonwealth and $2,000 from ACT Government • Tranches of 50 dwellings each • Retention for at least10 years • Other states • Land contributions • Cash grants • Benevolent contributions
