You will receive an eMail from Foliotek.comthe company that has created our new electronic portfolio and assessment system.  That email will give you login and initial password for entering the ePortfolio site, https://secure.foliotek.com • An electronic portfolio (or ePortfolio) is a system that will allow you to create customized professional websites to showcase your best work as you progress at Bethany College and as you prepare yourself for the world of work or graduate school.  The system is easy to use and comes with several self-guiding tutorials on how to upload files, and create and publish ePortfolios.  I encourage you to explore the system soon . . . you can’t break anything! • Additionally, some of your academic programs will have specific assessment-portfolio requirements that will help you prepare for certification (e.g., teaching) or other aspects of your future profession. Your instructors will guide you through the process of submitting artifacts to your ePortfolio. • Lastly, I want to thank Bethany College’s Student Government Association for supporting this exciting adventure.

How will you organize and design your ePortfolio? • A reflection of your personality: lots of styles, colors, designs and layouts to choose. • Uniform title with basic information: Name, College, Major/degree/area of concentration • What should we see first? Photos? • Page tabs clearly titled; easy to navigate and use. • Other?....

English / Language Arts 4 content artifacts(Dr. Linda Lewis) • EN teaching majors take a 100-item multiple choice exam designed to validate whether they have met the objectives of KS standard 1, knowledge of print and non-print texts.  It covers material studied in American lit surveys, British lit surveys, Shakespeare, world lit, young adult lit, critical theory, and the novel.  • EN teaching majors submit a portfolio of their writing produced throughout their undergraduate program.  The assessment is designed to measure whether they have met the KS standard of communicating effectively and responsibly for a variety of audiences and purposes. • EN teaching majors take a final exam  in EN302 Introduction to Linguistics.  The test is cumulative and designed to measure whether they have met  the KS standard of demonstrating knowledge of the history, structure, and development of the English language. • EN teaching majors submit a lesson plan from their student teaching semester designed to measure whether they have met the KS standard of knowledge of current methods for teaching the processes of reading, writing, speaking, listening, thinking and viewing.
