  3. Stimulus / Inspiration • Watch the clip from Strictly Come Dancing.. (light footwork, dramatic, feisty) • Video Clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HknwP-87f3o • Music: Marc Anthony VivirMi Vida - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=alUhI7WUnh4

  4. Step 1 – Forward back step • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXCaHzaK2s0

  5. Step 2 – Side step • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5PEscr6mFs

  6. Step 3: Pull away • Face your partner with your hands together (like a high 10) • With your right hand, pull it away from your partner to open to the side (move your right leg to the side too • Bring your hand back to face your partner

  7. Learning objectiveTo be able to create a piece of choreography that uses key featuresof salsa dance. • Your task is to create a piece of choreography that uses the set movements with your own Latin American salsa choreography. • You will have iPad’s to research the styles but you must incorporate the following: • 1. A starting group formation (the shape your group will start in) • 2. The 3 key movements that are shown to you. • 3. Moments of stillness/frozen moments. • 4. Levels. • 5. Change in direction and/or speed.

  8. Feedback and assessment. • It is important for all dancers to be able to evaluate themselves. By assessing our performances we can set targets to improve on and become a better overall performer. • Have you considered…www & ebi • Levels? • Change in speed? • Partner work? • Canon? • Unison? • Fluidity? • Well rehearsed? • Creative? • Musicality? Ensure all feedback is constructive. Use a ‘www’ to highlight the best elements of their performance and an ‘ebi’ to set them a target to improve on! Look at the list of features to help you.

  9. Performance… • In your pairs you will create 4 counts of 8 in which you should have used your 3 key movements. • You will have time to rehearse before you join up with another pair for feedback (www/ebi) • Using the feedback from the other pair, you and your partner will now continue to develop your choreography, adding on to what you have already produced. Start to think about tempo/levels/direction/partner work and solo work. • After rehearsing you will now perform (one half of the class to the other)

  10. FINALLY… WORKS BEST WITH SMALLER GROUPS • You will be judged in a ‘Strictly come dancing’ fashion. • Miss Burlington will rate your performance out of 10, the winning team will receive house points.
