Calculations for Experiment 8 • You have initial total mass of mixture • % mass of each part = mass of part x 100 initial mass of whole True composition of mixture: 10% gravel 40% salt 50% sand • Experimental Sources of Error (ESOE’s) should: • Be in a separate section • Explain why you got too much or too little of each part. • Be written in passive voice

(at end of period) Reminders: • Bring both lab manuals to class tomorrow. • Don’t forget close-toed shoes and hair ties. • Test Ch 2, classification of matter - Friday • Read current event articles.

HW: WS: mixtures and properties – due tomorrow Labs 4 on Wednesday – read thoroughly: pre-lab quiz tomorrow Read current event articles posted on blog 8/18 – quiz next Tuesday.

Review Experiment 8 pre-lab & procedures Extensive vs. Intensive properties. Classification activity HW: Complete exp. 8 prelab. Read current event articles posted on blog 8/18 – quiz Tuesday. **Don’t forget close-toed shoes and a pen for tomorrow.
