  2. Project background • Led by Wychavon Strategic Partnership • Ambitious four-year project to provide help to hard pressed communities in parts of the Vale of Evesham • Funded through £420,000 from Worcestershire’s first Local Area Agreement reward grant

  3. OVoE project areas 5 geographic locations: • Evesham • Harvington • Broadway • Norton • Badsey • 11 Output Areas • 1433 households

  4. OVoE project aims • Improve skills and confidence • Reduce fuel poverty • Improve health & well being

  5. OVoE to date Started with a survey • Mix of open and closed questions • Selected and trained 18 community interviewers • Carried out face to face interviews with residents • 33% response rate (470) responses • Confirmed the aims of the project

OVoE Survey Some literal responses Heating homes a new boiler/central heating system double glazing Insulation Health and well-being information for cooking on a budget (13%) weight loss or weight management (13%) Skills more affordable opportunities (21%) having better health (15%) Top overall responses • better health • help with childcare • training • more money or help with funding.

What have we achieved?General • Project established – management and theme groups • Approach approved by the Wychavon LSP and Worcestershire partnership • Communities engaged • Project recognised nationally • Investigated new approaches to delivering public sector projects • Practical projects delivered

What have we achieved?Health & Wellbeing Survey headlines • Lack of physical activity • information for cooking on a budget (13%) • weight loss or weight management (13%) So far we have • Put on physical activity projects • Brought health services direct to 600 homes through door knocks • Helped towards the creation of a new public open space • Put on a series of health MOTs across the OVoE areas • New forest school • Over 50’s lunch club

What have we achieved?Tackling Fuel Poverty Survey headlines • Major issue across the OVoE areas • new boiler/central heating system • double glazing • Insulation So far we have • Installed over 130 insulation measures • Over 50 home energy audits • Offered support direct through door knocks • Developed a GP referral project • Approved a new boiler / central heating scheme

What have we achieved?Skills and Confidence Survey headlines • more affordable opportunities (21%) • having better health (15%) • help with childcare • training • more money or help with funding So far we have • Helped establish a new social enterprise • Run business development workshops • Working intensively with 15 unemployed people • Put on free college courses in partnership with South Worcestershire College • Offering money advice surgeries • Developing new Mobile Creche social enterprise

  11. Current focus Over the next 12 months we will be: • Developing more nutrition projects • Offering one to one financial advice sessions • Continue the insulation measures and delivering the boiler / heating project • Establishing the Mobile Creche project • Customer Journey Mapping

Sustainability • OVoE project all about sustaining the outcomes and applying learning • Fuel poverty delivery partnership has made a lasting and sustainable impact • Health delivery partnership has established programmes that will encourage people to sustain a healthier lifestyle • Skills delivery partnership is up-skilling communities to help people through the current financial crisis and improve future outcomes • Public Health has provided additional investment to link to Clinical Commissioning Group and roll out learning to other areas of Wychavon
