  2. irony • In situational irony, the actions involved have a different outcome than were intended • REMEMBER the O”Henry short story “The Gift of the Magi”. A poor couple sell their most valued possessions in order to buy the other a wonderful gift which can no longer be used. The wife sold her hair to a wig maker to buy her husband a chain for his watch, and he sold his watch to buy her a comb for her beautiful hair.
