  2. II.- BEST SOURCES AND METHODS ON LABOUR INPUT VOLUMES FOR SPAIN I NUMBER OF WORKERS 1970-1979 LFS (NA figures not available) 1980-2004 We favour NATIONAL ACCOUNTS HOURS WORKED LABOUR FORCE SURVEY WAGE SURVEY

  3. II.- BEST SOURCES AND METHODS ON LABOUR INPUT VOLUMES FOR SPAIN II ISSUES BETWEEN NA & LFS: 1980-1995 NA & LFS use the SAME DEFINITIONS for employed persons and employees (employed persons= selfemployed + employees) In general, NA figures are higher than those from LFS For some sectors this is not the case 1995-2004 DIFFERENT DEFINITIONS: LFS uses employed persons & employees. NA introduces jobs for self employed & employees. Full-time equivalent jobs are also computed (dividing total annual hours worked by the annual average of hours worked in a full-time job). 2000:LFS methodological change: new definition of unemployed, following Eurostat criteria. Many unemployed persons exit the labour force. May 2005: new release of NA 2000-04 (new year base 2000) June 2005: new release of LFS 1996-2004, with a great increase of the # of occupied persons & employees (immigrant population is introduced in the elevation factors through the municipal census)

  4. III.- IN CASE YOU PREFER TO DIFFER FROM THE NA, WHY? • We consider the NA figures for jobs and full time equivalent jobs (in aggregate for all sectors), as the best choice. • We might suggest changes for some specific sectors.
