  1. The Voice of Business Since 1911 BECOME A COMMUNITY PRESERVATIONIST SHOP LOCALLY

  2. Shop Locally Even though the merits of the Federal economic recovery program can be debated, there is one type of stimulus effort that has been proven effective, time and time again. Shopping locally directly benefits the regional economy. As simple as the concept is, it works!

  3. Shop Locally When possible, we must make an effort to patronize locally owned businesses. The money spent at locally owned companies is reinvested in the community to a much greater degree because area businesses employ local people who take their paychecks; and reintroduce that same dollar at local restaurants, retail shops, service providers and wherever else money is spent.

  4. Shop Locally Generally speaking, $0.45 to $0.65 cents of every dollar spent in a locally owned business stays in the area. For every $1.00 spent, the value to the overall community ranges from $5.00 to $14.00. That rate of return on investment can provide a tremendous shot in the arm to the local economy.

  5. Shop Locally Hello. My name is Rob Mellion. I am the CEO of the Fall River Area Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Now that I have your attention, please consider these FIVE additional reasons to shop at local businesses.

  6. Shop Locally 1. Do the Math Factor in the cost of gas, traffic congestion, meals for the family while on the road, or shipping and handling fees when you shop online.

  7. Shop Locally 2. Local retailers need your help Consider what local businesses have been facing during the National Recession. Now they need to pay their employees, taxes, utility costs, rent and hopefully pay themselves.

  8. Shop Locally 3. Shopping in your local community helps to sustain jobs Supporting local merchants means more jobs for our neighbors, family and friends. It also results in better wages and quality of life.

  9. Shop Locally 4. Buying locally funds our Infrastructure Job creation and employment preservation helps to fund local education programs, emergency services and community development.

  10. Shop Locally 5. Small business owners give back Small business owners sustain our community through contributing to local charities, sport teams, festivals, non-profits, schools, and the list goes on …

  11. Shop Locally You see, spending locally really does make a difference. On behalf of area businesses, the Fall River Area Chamber of Commerce respectfully urges you to be a community preservationist all year round by keeping your hard earned dollars in the local economy. Thank you in advance for shopping locally!
