  2. 2004 Question 7 (a) Choose an activity. Describe, in detail, the method of analysis you used to gather information about your performance of one selected skill or technique. (4) Answer: Movement Analysis (PAR), Mechanical Analysis (to assess force, levers, propulsion), Consideration of Quality (controlled, fluent, fast/slow), Video (compare to MP) and Questionnaire (“done well, “needs improvement)

  3. 2004 Question 7 (b) Explain why you considered this method of analysis to be appropriate to the activity and the skill or technique involved. 4 Answer: Simple, objective, make comparisons of performance before, during and after, ensure training effective, allowed for refinement, increase motivation, judgements for future training, permanent record

  4. 2004 Question 7 (c) As you attempted to develop your performance of the skill or technique selected in Part (a), you will have used different methods of practice. Describe the methods of practice you used. 6 Answer: Gradual build-up, whole-part-whole, progressive practices, shadow/repetition/ pressure drills

  6. 2004 Question 8 • Choose an activity. Describe, in detail, one skill or technique you have attempted to develop. 4 Answer: Your answer must include a detailed description of your weakness (overhead clear/drop shot) must include preparation, action and recovery phases.

Explain why this practice situation was effective in helping you develop your whole performance6 Answer: for example you might be working at the automatic stage so you should describe; pressure drills, problem solving drills and overload

  9. 2004 Question 8 (d) How did you assess any improvement in your ability to make effective decisions? 4 Answer: For example, you may have made comparisons of your performance before and after (e.g. Initial and final PAR, scatter graph, match analysis and training diary)

(4) • Describe, briefly, how you gathered data/information about your performance in this selected skill or technique. Give specific details of how your performance compared to that of a model/skilled performance. (6)

  12. (c) In relation to your current performance, describe in detail a programme of work that would be appropriate to develop the skill or technique identified. (6) (d) Explain why it is important to monitor the effectiveness of your programme of work. (4) (20)

(b) • PAR analyse; compares performance to criteria copied from the ‘model performance’, broken down into 3 parts – preparation, action and recovery, tick placed against correct parts of the technique • PAR allowed me to; look more closely at my drop shot, compare to a model performer, break down skills into preparation, action and recovery, results are easy and quick to interpret (immediate) and identifies cause of inaccuracy • Compare subroutines between you and model • ?/6
