  1. Technology Timeline Kylie Dailey and Myles Fodiman Spring 2012

  2. Definition of Technology Technology consist of inventions that changed the world over time by helping or damaging it. For example weapons including guns and bombs can damage the world. Inventions that help the world include the thermometer, the telescope, vaccinations , and the incandescent lamp.

  3. 724: Mechanical Clock; Liang Ling-Can The mechanical clock is important because it allows people to tell time without the sun. As technology evolved so did the mechanical clock. After the mechanical clock battery powered, solar powered, and electric clocks were all invented.

  4. 1280: Eyeglasses; Salvino D'Armate Eyeglasses are important because they allow people to see even if they have vision problems. They have found many ways to help eye problems including bifocals, trifocals, and contacts.

  5. 1593: Thermometer; Galileo Galilei Thermometers help by telling the temperatures of many things. For example you can tell the temperature of a furnace, car engine, refrigerator, freezer, oven, and many other things requiring that requires a certain temperature.

  6. 1609: Microscope; Galileo Galilei Microscopes are like magnifying glasses, they allow you to see microscopic things up-close. This is an extremely important scientific invention because it allows scientists to study and see germs, bacteria, and organisms.

  7. 1698: Telescope; Hans Lippershey A wonderful invention, telescopes allow us to see and understand galaxies, stars, planets, and moons. Today telescopes have changed since their invention because they are bigger, more powerful, and can see farther into space.

  8. 1798: Vaccination; Edward Jenner Vaccinations are important because they prevent you from getting or spreading contagious diseases such as the flu. Prior to 1798 contagious diseases often wiped out major groups of people because they didn’t have antidotes.

  9. 1834: Refrigerator; Jacob Perkins The refrigerator is helpful because it keeps things cold so food doesn’t spoil. This invention has come a long way since we first had the ice box to keep things cold and safe. .

  10. 1878: Incandescent lamp; Thomas Edison The incandescent lamp is important because it was the first source of light that didn’t require open flame. This invention made the light in a room more even than when they used candle sticks or gas lamps.

  11. 1895: X-Rays; Roentgen X-rays are helpful because they let you see your bones by taking a picture. Today they also have ultrasounds and cat scans.

  12. 1907: Helicopter; Paul Cornu Helicopters help today by letting passengers travel through the air and rescue people. The first helicopter was invented by Paul Cornu, but along the way others have been inspired to add to the design of the helicopter; they are: Juan de la Cierua, CorradinoD’Ascanio, Heinrich Focke, Anton Flettner, and Igor Sikorsky.

  13. Conclusion We think technology has changed our society by creating objects more powerful than before. For example they keep improving a lot of products like, phones, computers, and cars making them faster and more powerful. We have gotten to era mostly made of technology. Our values have possibly changed by making it harder to interact with friends and family. Our vision of technology in the future is having more violence in the world because at this time we already have an outrageous number of critical weapons such as guns and bombs. We can’t even imagine what weapons might be created in the future.
