  1. Tuesday, September 18, 2012 • Write in your agenda: • Adjectives • Making Connections-”The Lorax” • Library/AR Testing (bring your AR contract with you) • Homework: Read for AR-AR points are due next Friday!!!

  2. Adjectives • An adjective is a word that modifies, or describes a noun or pronoun. • Students will all receive an adjectives handout • Place the Adjectives handout in the Handout section of your binder

  3. Questions Adjectives Answer… What kind? Which one? How many? How much?

  4. Adjective Practice We will complete the Adjectives P. 44 as a class Read each sentence, underline the adjective in each sentence. Draw an arrow to the noun the adjective modifies (describes).

  5. Making Connections • Give each student a response starter • Listen as I go over with you how to put together your response starter to use during the reading.

  6. Making Connections-”The Lorax” *Listen as I read “The Lorax,” fill in your response starter as I read. • After the story is completed, each student will be given a worksheet titled “The Lorax.” • Students should complete the worksheet by answering questions about the story. • Place the worksheet in your reader’s notebook section of your binder.

  7. Sticky Note Reading Go over handout on using sticky notes when independently reading.
