  1. Module Long term test activities • University Antwerp • CMS tracker L2 L3 meeting, CERN, • 11-12 June 2001

  2. List of responsibilities: 1. Production tasks: • Long term test of modules • mile stone 200 phase • from production start to middle summer 2002 ( L3: W. Beaumont) • long term petal test • from summer 2002 until end of production together with IIHE Brussels (P.Vanlaer, W.Beaumont, C.Vander Velde) It is not foreseen for the moment to have petal long term test and module long term test at the same time. With the available man power and infrastructure we can handle this if needed.

  3. Infrastructures: • 28 m2 Class 10.000 clean room (September 2001) (module testing and storage , diagnosis) • Ultra dry air facility 200 l/h for cold box(September 2001) Now with nitrogen. Storage : • for incoming modules Cupboard. • long term storage for tested modulesNot defined yet. Reserved 3m2 for this( ~ CHF 2500) Instrumentation : • test setup see list. • Microscope

  4. Long Term Test Setup items

  5. Human resources • Senior Physicists • V. Zhukov (0.5 FTE) 1)data quality checks , data base • investigation of possible failures • Engineers: • W. Beaumont ( 0.4 FTE) 1) • supervision , logistics • investigation of possible failures • E. de Langhe • operation and maintenance of test system • Technicians: • Open position (1 FTE ) • operation of test station, data logging and module handling. 1) Not including general development and maintenance of the long term test setup software.

  6. Money resources • No core money will be requested to complete the foreseen module long term setup. Status test setup and activities • Long term module test: • Setup is running with prototype cold box and "alpha" version of the software. • Connections to database in advanced phase • Finalizing software. • Ready to do long term module test for one or two module with the existing system whenUTRI boards available • Procurement of standard items before September 2001 .

  7. Concerns • No modules available to commissioning the test setup. Grounding problems can be a problem. Hope experience with the system test setup at CERN will give hints how to tackle the problems • Designs transportation plates, boxes are not frozen in detail. Can have consequences for the mechanics of the cold box • Delivery of cold box for 10 modules can be delayed • Control of our CAEN HV system (old controller )
